Steamships, raincoats, doorways, subways, prairies, Africa, mornings, lives, children, heath care, fortunes, neighbours...
Though a somewhat disparate list, these did constitute the theme of our musical return to Toronto’s 120 Diner on Friday night. The show was our last Sue and Dwight ‘original music’ show of 2018 and we were so pleased to perform it at the ‘Diner and with Kevin Quain joining us on piano and guitar. We were also pleased to see a full house of friendly faces in the audience.
We wanted the show to be musically special so we selected songs from across our catalogue. 'Anson Northrup' from our first CD sailed for the first time live in a few years. 'Happy Little Children' made it's Diner debut. Newer songs included 'A Good Life', 'When They Came For The Others', and 'A Good Morning'. We even played a new/old song, 'Sister Doorway', written in 1995. Our setlist also included these covers that we know are audience favourites 'Famous Blue Raincoat', 'One Tin Soldier' and 'There But For Fortune'.
It was a wonderful musical night and way to cap 2018. Next stop 2019!
