LITTLE CHILD BIG WORLD LYRICS
Marching
Sue Peters ©2008
Full-time dreamer, part-time schemer, wishing on her star tonight
Complicated, simple life; sister, daughter, friend or wife
Marching to her own percussion she sometimes misses a step
In her journey thru this life and it hasn’t stopped her yet
In her dreamworld, life is perfect; no one hurts and no one cries
Everyone is who they seem; no deception, games or lies
Childlike wonder, heart of gold; as years go by she won’t seem old
Optimistic, joyful life; sister, daughter, friend or wife
It hasn’t stopped her yet
One Song
Sue Peters ©2007
One song can’t change the world
Two songs can’t change the world
Even three songs can’t change the world
But maybe the singers can
Songs about freedom and songs about truth
Songs with a message to share
Songs that will teach you awaken your passion
Songs that remind you, you care
Where Have All The Flowers Gone, Give Peace A Chance
Imagine, If I Had A Hammer
These songs were written by dreamers who knew
Thru voices their words live forever…but
This little song, it won’t change the world
But what if we all sing along
Our voices will carry a message of hope
To those who can’t always be strong
Happy Little Children
Sue Peters ©2007
Remember we were happy little children
Loved and cared for happy little children
The world was bright for happy little children
All was right back then
Then we learned not all little children
Were loved and cared for happy little children
The world is tough for some little children
Where did it go wrong
All the world in all its glory
Hear the message, tell the story
Wish upon a star tonight
Maybe everything will be all right
Wish we all were happy little children
Loved and cared for happy little children
Imagine a world of happy little children
What a place it would be
Lucky Me
Sue Peters ©2007
Lucky me, I got more than I need
Almost seems like greed, when half the world is hungry
I know I’m blessed so then, why aren’t the rest
Why aren’t they lucky just like me
The world is one, we share the same sun
Sleep under the same stars every night
We all have dreams of better lives
And for some they may come true
Mercy me, I don’t like what I see
Violence and greed, and inhumanity
Lucky me I got more than I need
Why aren’t they lucky just like me
Mercury Rising
Kim Cole & Sue Peters ©2008
Ancient ice caps melting
A prophecy of what’s in store
Silent victims of a warming planet
Obligations we ignore
Majestic Kilimanjaro
Staircase to heaven’s door
What’s to become of those who live in your shadow
When the waters flow no more, when the waters flow no more
Rising, mercury rising, tempers and temperatures flare as the
mercury’s rising
The western thirst for profit
Drives the fumes that fill the air
Choke the grazing plains of Tanzania
A people headed for despair, a people headed for despair
Rising, mercury rising, tempers and temperatures flare as the
mercury’s rising, hopelessness rising, no homes for refugees lost to the
mercury rising
Ancient ice caps melting
A prophecy of what’s in store
A raging battle we are surely losing
Who are soldiers in this war
See The Little Baby
Dwight Peters ©2007
See the Little baby, walking by the highway,
Looking for its momma, passed on Friday,
Livin’ with its grandma, her only family,
How was your day?
Wake up in the morning, there’s no bed
Sleeping in the floor, no pillow at your head
Nearest water’s, 2 miles a way
Put the bucket on your head, no school today
Feeling hungry, there’s no store
Go to the garden try dig for more
Plant the seed, pray for rain
Your breakfast is just supper again
Feeling sick, a cough and sneeze
Could be Malaria or HIV
No thinking freedom, at fifty five
When you’re just trying to stay alive
Gulu
Dwight Peters ©2007
Eternal land of Kica, Labongo’s great domain
Nomads of savanna, await the healing rains
North beyond the river, upon Acholi ground
Lies our destination, all aboard for Gulu town
Damn the rebel army who kill with no remorse
Damn the mighty soldiers as they withhold their force
Millions lost within the camps, far as the eye can see
Shame on every one of us who chose to let it be
Pray for night commuters who sleep so far from home
Pray for frightened parents who must make their children roam
North beyond the river, upon Acholi ground
Peace for north Uganda, peace for Gulu town
Little Child Big World
Sue Peters ©2007
Little girl standing there, watching every move I make
Fanny, do you know I care
Wish I could take you away from there
Little child, big world, can you see beyond your borders
Do you know what’s there? Little child, big world
Write your name in the sand
With a stone and steady hand
Do you know what I see
Beautiful Tikambenji
Biggers has a big wide smile
His mother loves him more than anything
Will you be my friend?
And when will I see you again?
Almost Missed The Beauty
Sue Peters ©2007
Careful look both ways, Careful what they may say
Careful don’t talk to loud, There might be a crowd out there
Don’t do this and don’t do that, Do I look short, do I look fat
Quit your job might think you’re lazy, Work too hard, they call you
crazy so
I almost missed the sunset as it slipped into the gorge
I was trying to get my footing like so many times before
It happened in an instant, A blink of an eye
I almost missed the beauty unfolding in the sky
Careful don’t talk to strangers, Careful so many dangers
Careful lock the door, Don’t know what’s in store for you
All our fears take precious time, Build up walls and cloud our mind
Waste the time that we’ve been given, Holding back instead of
living now
It happens in an instant, A blink of an eye
Don’t ever miss the beauty unfolding in the sky
Ain’t No Passenger On This Train
Dwight Peters ©2007
Ain’t no passenger on this train
Ain’t no passenger on this train
Stop the suffering, heal the pain
Ain’t no passenger on this train
Whoa now children, get on board
This train of life and hear it roar
No time for sittin’ on your hands
If we’re to reach the promised land
Whoa now children, talkin’ to you
There’s just so much, work to do
Train’s a rollin’, hear its cry
You can’t let it, pass you by
Glory, glory, hallelieu
There’s no telling, what we might do
Get together, take a stand
Buy your ticket, lend a hand
Diamonds On Velvet
Sue Peters ©2007
I looked up to the sky and imagine my surprise when I saw diamonds there
diamonds on velvet
City lights shine so bright, I never realized there were diamonds there
diamonds on velvet
Traveling thru this world so fast, if I could make one moment last
I’d choose this one, or this one, or maybe this one
No time for regrets, one chance is all we get
So I’ll take this one
I looked into your eyes and imagine my surprise when I saw diamonds there
diamonds on velvet
Little windows to the soul, I confess I didn’t know there were diamonds there
Diamonds on velvet
No time for regrets, one chance is all we get
So I’ll take this one, and this one, and I’ll take this one too
And I’ll take it with you
Who
Sue Peters ©2007
Memories I’d put away
Came flooding back to me today
They tell me who I was, who I am
And who I will become someday
Photographs on display
Take me back to another day
They show me who I was, who I am
And who I will become someday
In one life we’re always changing
Growing up and rearranging
Make mistakes, then realize
And see the world thru different eyes
Letters from long ago
People I used to know
They remind me who I was, who I am
And who I will become someday
Who was I, who am I
And who will I become someday
Prairie Girl
Sue Peters ©2008
The prairie wind was blowin’, it swept me far away from home
In the arms of a prairie boy and gave us feet that had to roam
It swept us halfway across the country, it took us clear across the world
And opened up the mind and heart of a little prairie girl
When I close my eyes I see, fields of golden wheat
On the ground beneath my feet
On its gust of cool clean air, I can travel anywhere
And the whole world becomes my home
My prairie wind’s still blowin’, I wonder what it has in store
Will it send us far away to a distant foreign shore
Or will it spin us round in circles, right back where we started from
Riding on my prairie wind there are adventures still to come
It swept us halfway across the country, it took us clear across the world
And opened up the mind and heart of a little prairie girl
Of a little prairie girl, ooooooooooooooooooh
